A number of contemporary documents have been examined by Pipe Aston Project members. These include parish registers and Bishops transcripts for Aston, Burrington, and Elton, accounts kept by the Churchwardens and overseers of the poor for Ashton, the 1841 census of Aston, enclosure awards, deeds and estate papers for Downton Castle. The aim of this research is to gain a fuller understanding of the people and social structure of the parish.
