Roy's Orchard
Pipes

Three pipe types were produced in the later phases of production at Roy's Orchard. A tailed or racquet heeled pipe, equivalent to the Broseley type 5, a round heeled pipe equivalent to Hereford type k, and in the final phase a spurred pipe.

Of the 2361 pipes recovered, 2300 are of those types. Matching pipemakers named on pipe stamps with records in the parish registers suggests a commencement date circa 1700. Combined data from the pottery, documents, and pipe forms suggests termination circa 1730.
Evidence is emerging of a possible earlier seventeenth century phase producing pipes marked IB.
